A rich and gooey quick chocolate mug cake served warm in a ceramic mug, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings – ready in under 5 minutes.

Quick Chocolate Mug Cake

Description

You’ll need three mugs or ramekins for this batch. The ingredients below are enough to make 3 individual servings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 6 tablespoons milk (dairy or non-dairy)

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter)

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Optional: 3 tablespoons chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or marshmallows

Notes

Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Tip: If you’re making this directly in the mugs, divide the dry ingredients evenly into each mug.

Step 2: Add the Wet Ingredients

Add milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mix. Stir well until the batter is smooth and lump-free.

Optional: Fold in chocolate chips or other mix-ins.

Step 3: Microwave Time

Place the mugs in the microwave, one at a time. Microwave each for 1 minute and 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on your microwave’s power.

The cake should rise but still look slightly moist in the center — that’s the fudgy magic.

Step 4: Cool & Enjoy

Let the cakes cool for 1–2 minutes (they’ll be hot!). Top with whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of caramel, or a sprinkle of sea salt for extra decadence.
